National Standards

National Standards came into effect in English-medium schools with pupils in Years 1 to 8 in 2010. The standards set clear expectations that students need to meet in reading, writing, and mathematics in the first eight years at school. The standards give teachers, children, parents, families and whānau information about where children are at in reading, writing and maths, and what they have to do next in their learning.

From 2010, schools are required to report on student progress and achievement against the National Standard.

Please look through the links below to view the standards in detail and learn more about how they relate to your child.
