In the Junior Area, (Years 1 to 3) we encourage children to hone their individual skills and talents and develop their own unique personalities.

We help children develop the skills of communication, literacy and numeracy. We provide an increasing number of opportunities for children to apply their skills in a range of exciting and challenging situations.
In all classes, termly targets are set for each child in reading, writing and maths. These are discussed with parents and they are made aware of our expectations for their child.

We always encourage children to read and to love reading. The ability to read is essential. It leads the way to reaching success in school, which can build self-confidence and motivate a child to set high expectations for life.

So, we expect parents to listen to your child read everyday. Reading with your child should always be part of a child's routine at home.  A child who can read, is a child who succeeds.

Junior Area Rules and Expectations

  1. All students must wear clean uniforms to school every day.
  2. Everyone is expected to come to school on time. Your child will miss a lot of school activities when he/she comes to school late as well as disturb class sessions in progress.
  3. If your child is absent, your child must bring a note to school the next day your child comes back stating the reason of absence.
  4. No jewellery of any type except a pair of stud earrings for girls.
  5. Children should bring healthy lunches. No fizzy drink please.
  6. All children must bring their BOOKBAGS to school every day. Reading Diary must be signed by the parents. Check book bags for NOTICES or HOMEWORK every night.
  7. All homework is to be completed and brought back at a time specified by the teacher. Please allow your children to complete the homework on their own. Then go over it with them and help them correct it. If they are unable to do the homework, then that is the time to assist them. All homework must be signed by the parent.
  8. All parents must stop at the office before taking them home for early dismissal.

Playground Behaviour

We hope that all the children will enjoy our playground.. We understand that children will be children and when they play they may get hurt. To ensure the safety of all of the children, there are teachers on duty to supervise them during Morning Tea Time and Play Lunch Time.

Classroom Behaviour

Each teacher will have their own class rules. However, there are a few general rules that must be followed. Every student is expected to observe and obey class rules and school rules.

Expectations

There are a lot of procedures and rules to follow. We are not making these rules just for window dressing. All these rules have been discussed with the children. We want this school to be the best school. Please, help us realise our goals by observing these rules.

Not everyone likes to try things that are hard but the only way to learn new things is to keep trying. Motivate your child even at difficult lessons to try and try until your child succeeds. Please make sure that your children know that you stand behind their teachers and that you will follow through with whatever the above rules and procedures state.

Please take everything in these rules and procedures as constructive methods to have students become better learners. Let's not go backward, but go forward, working together to make the school year productive. Most important, let's keep the lines of communication open between all of us.
